The World
A former slave fighting for her freedom and the reclusive, wrecked warrior who reluctantly trains her. That's the setup, and Broadbent spends three books pulling it somewhere much darker and more devastating than it sounds. This is romantasy with real teeth: high stakes, political knives, and a slow burn that makes you pay for it. If you came off the ACOTAR and Empyrean end of the genre wanting something sharper, this is the turn.
If You Loved It
Broadbent also writes the Crowns of Nyaxia series, starting with The Serpent and the Wings of Night. Same author, same willingness to hurt you, a different dark world. It's the natural next stop when the trilogy leaves a hole.
