Cozy fantasy that's charming and a little ridiculous in the best way, and I mean that as a compliment. Working for the villain has never looked this good. I loved it enough to reread the whole thing a year later, which is not something I usually do.

Assistant to the Villain. There's no debate to have on this one. The books are numbered, they read in order, and the publisher says the same thing on the back of every copy.
The order of the series is: Assistant to the Villain, Apprentice to the Villain, Accomplice to the Villain, Adversary to the Villain.
Where It Came From
This started as a TikTok skit. Maehrer was posting short videos about an evil overlord and his aggressively competent assistant. The bit went viral, and the bit became a book. Knowing that changes how the first few chapters land. The comic timing isn't an accident; it was workshopped in front of an audience for months before there was ever a manuscript.
What's Coming
Adversary to the Villain arrives August 4, 2026, from Red Tower Books. The first print run is a limited deluxe edition with sprayed edges, available only in the US and Canada. It's open for preorder now.
